Koa the Golden Retriever

Koa [koh' (w)ah] is a traditional Hawaiian name which means "bold, brave, fearless - a warrior". Koa were the ancient Hawaiian Warriors known as the Elite Hawaiian Special Forces of their time! Well, this fits our Golden Retriever boy's personality perfectly! He has also demonstrated to us that he is also very good at agility as he has much strength and a bodacious Golden personality! He is also sometimes a vocal boy, very smart & independent personality. I seriously wanted to name him Focker but my family members were a bit embarrassed to try that name out loud and when I did I had a few heads turn my way in astonishment all wide eyed with raised eyebrows! So I settled on that being his middle name! Now we wait and watch Koa grow into his cute big floppy Golden ears and big paws!

Golden Retrievers are the sporting group - the water dogs, they have webbed feet and a double water repellent coat, having a lake or beach or pool is a good idea if you plan on having a Golden Retriever as water keeps them happy and fit - also they have no problems taking walks in the rain with you! Water is one of their favorite pastimes besides tennis balls that is! This beautiful breed of dog has a coat that comes a variety of colors, some creamy almost white and some almost as red as an Irish Setter and then the truly Golden honey color or orange marmalade color. This breed makes a loyal companion and family pet and will give you many comical scenes throughout their lifetime. This breed is extremely intelligent and also known as the velcro dog cause they want to be around you all the time and shadow you from room to room just to get a chance to lay at your feet and be with you. They enjoy and must have daily walks/hikes as most all dogs require mental and psychical stimulation to keep from having boredom and bad behavior issues.
